Microgaming Casino Software Review

Microgaming is a pioneer in online gaming software and one of the most reputed organizations in the online gaming industry today.

Microgaming developed its first online casino software in 1994 and came out with a comprehensive casino management system the next year. After introducing games like slots, blackjack, roulette, craps, video poker and keno, Microgaming introduced the first wide area progressive jackpot slots, Cash Splash, on the Internet in 1998. In 1999 and 2000 the software developer introduced the PlayCheck and CashCheck features that respectively allowed online players to track their gaming and financial transactions in real time and online. In 2000 Microgaming launched its first set of Flash games. In 2001 Microgaming introduced the download-as-you-play technology, which enabled players to start playing while the casino was being downloaded. The same year the multi-language casino system was launched that enabled many players to use the software in their native language. In 2002 one of the most popular Internet progressive slots, Major Millions, hit the then highest jackpot of over $1.5 million. 2003 was a watershed year in the history of Microgaming. It launched the Viper software, which then was and still is, the most powerful online gaming software. The same year the popular slots game Thunderstruck was launched, as was the Megaspin series. In 2004 Microgaming came out with two innovations. One was Mobile games that could be played on portable telephone handsets and the other was the Power Poker series of multi hand video slots. In 2004 Tomb Raider online slots was launched in downloadable version. Based on the Lara Croft movie this became an instant hit and led to the release in Flash and mobile versions the next year and a sequel, Secret of the Swords, in 2008.

Today Microgaming is releasing new games at an awesome rate. It is also reinventing standard games in an innovative way. The Gold Series offers blackjack and roulette games with progressive jackpots and interesting side bets. Microgaming powers over 120 online casinos and over 40 online poker rooms. Many of its casinos offer more than 350 games with more being added each month. Four games, Bob’s Bowling Bonanza, Spike’s Nite Out, Jonny Specter and Multi-Hand Perfect Pairs European Blackjack, were released on October 1. Seven games are slated for release on October 31. Microgaming also offers 21 progressive jackpots that have paid over $250 million since their inception. Mega Moolah currently at over $4 million is perhaps the largest online jackpot going today.

Microgaming is not only the industry leader in providing new and innovative games but it has taken the lead to bring credibility and trust to the industry. In 1997 it founded the Interactive Gaming Council and in 2003 it founded eCOGRA. Both these organizations have through self-regulation won for the online gaming industry the trust of millions of players world over.
